Photo Contest in Beautiful Haywood County NC

ncmountain2HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (September 1, 2010) – Make some great family memories and capture the scenic beauty along 46 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Maggie Valley/Waynesville/Canton North Carolina. To help celebrate the Blue Ridge Parkway’s 75th Anniversary the Haywood County Tourism Development Authority and Blue Ridge Country Magazine are sponsoring a photo contest.

Participants are asked to submit up to five images of their favorite scenic views from the 46 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway located in the Canton, Maggie Valley and Waynesville areas between mile markers 423 and 469. This area includes more than twenty overlooks including Richland Balsam, Cowee Mountain, Cold Mountain, and Waterrock Knob. All accepted photos will be posted in a special Photo Gallery on the HCDTA’s home page,

August 1st through the conclusion of the contest on November 31, 2010 the general public will have an opportunity to vote for their top three photos. The grand prize is a $500 gift card and a framed print by Haywood County artist Teresa Pennington, commemorating the Blue Ridge Parkways 75th anniversary. Other prizes include a $250 and $100 gift card. All winning photos will be showcased in a feature story of Blue Ridge Country magazine.
